FRINGE THEORIES: Ideas that Depart Significantly from the Prevailing or
Orthodox Views
An Art Exhibition Featuring the Work of Artists: Tony Allard, DJ Brejle, Noah Doely, Keith Engeron, and Mark Van Stone
“A man must consider what a rich realm he abdicates when he becomes a conformist.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
In 1633 a weak, despondent, seventy-year old Galileo Galilei, was brought before the Roman-Catholic Inquisition to defend himself against charges of heresy. Facing the possible sentences of permanent imprisonment, torture, and death, Galileo was forced to kneel and abdicate his belief that the earth revolves around the sun.
Those who enforce the status quo, enforce it hard. Forcing those of us who question these prevailing theories into a category of outsiders, extremists, conspiracy theorists.
FRINGE THEORIES considers the work of artists and scholars that exist outside of the traditional and accepted rules. The work of these artists forces us to look forward and keep an open mind.
